Excel Help

Recently, I was called in to a class to assist the students in the use of Microsoft Excel. Many of the issues were simple ones, such as how to open the document, or how to make a graph. The most common problem was the use of Microsoft Edge. A successor to Internet Explorer, it managed to do worse than its predecessor, offering no way to download a Google Document.

K12 Periodic Table Review

Recently, I have come across a periodic table app. It, however, is not just a standard periodic table. Here is the general layout:image

As you can see, the table provides electronegativity, ionization energy, atomic radius, ionic radius, melting point, and boiling point in addition to atomic number and average atomic mass. Rather than cloud the screen with the information, the developers allowed toggling of these values. The user interface for this is nothing if not intuitave. Just tap the element to find more information.

This system is not without its flaws, mainly that you cannot display two elements at the same time, hidering easy comparisons.

Here are the settings. These provide a quick comparison of all elements without actuall numbers using many different qualities. You can also switch between a traditional layout and a scientifically correct layout instantly. Another thing is that you can switch units of temperature between Fahrenheit, Centigrade, and Kelvin.

This table is outdate. There were new elements recently discovered, and they are not included here. However, the relevant values of these elements have not been observed, and it would provide little relevant information to the user, especially for chemical purposes.

Overall, this app gets an 8/10 for its simple UI and large amout of information.
